Cognizant Named to Winner’s Circle in HfS Blueprint 2015 Report on Software Product Engineering Services

OREANDA-NEWS. Cognizant has been named to the “Winner’s Circle” of HfS Research’s Blueprint Report on software product engineering services.

In its inaugural Blueprint focused on the software product engineering segment of engineering services, HfS Research evaluated the capabilities of 13 service providers in detail. It analyzed key engineering services outsourcing market dynamics for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and internet companies. In particular, it laid emphasis on evaluating service providers’ capabilities that could help ISVs in their As-a-Service journey. HfS Research also focused on industry benchmarking and operations improvement.

According to Pareekh Jain, Research Director, HfS, companies named to the Winner’s Circle “have the scale and are making investments in technologies, design and IP capabilities to push this market forward.”

Jain says, “There are five key takeaways [from the study]. First, there is renewed interest in this market and technology developments are creating interesting market opportunities. Second, for buy-side access to skills and time-to-market are most important drivers for software product outsourcing. Earlier it was cost and time-to-market. Now new technology developments have increased the importance of access to skills relative to the cost. Third, ISVs are facing disruption and need the help of software product engineering service providers in their “As-a-Service” journey. Fourth, scale is becoming important for service providers to make investments. Fifth, new service providers are entering this market and some service providers which were ignoring this market are making investments.”
