OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has been named the leader in the 3G Internet quality in Moscow. That’s according to the research carried out by the TelecomDaily agency. Tele2 was also ranked second in terms of voice quality having lost just a little to the winner.

TelecomDaily has announced the results of the research on quality of voice and high-speed wireless Internet. The agency’s team has tested over three weeks the voice and data quality of four operators providing services in Moscow.

According to the research, Tele2 has been named a leader in the quality of 3G services. The company’s network showed the highest speed of data transferred to subscriber (average – over 7 mbit/s, maximum – 30 mbit/s). Tele2 is also leading among all operators in speed of data transferred from subscriber. An average speed totaled 2.5 mbit/s, whereas the best registered result was equal to 5.3 mbit/s.

Tele2 has taken the second place by a small margin from the winner. According to TelecomDaily experts, Tele2 guarantees both a lack of disconnections and the shortest possible completion of call to subscriber.

Tele2 and other operators are equal in terms of data speeds.

Igor Zhizhikin, director of the Moscow macroregion at Tele2:

“It took Tele2 only half a year to provide Muscovites with mobile services and beat competitors in quality of networks which they have developed for decades. This statement is supported by high speeds of data, a lack of blockings and the shortest possible completion to call. We consider it as a great achievement to have taken the first place in data speed based on the 3G technology. This standard will remain the most widely used and most demanded wireless Internet for a couple of years. Not a single mobile operator had been so fast in rolling out networks over the history of telecom industry in Russia. After the Moscow launch we maintain high rates of construction: we continue installing 100 base stations per week.”

The research is based on the methodology suggested by the Russian Ministry for Communications and Mass Media. During the research TelecomDaily specialists were moving around the city on special cars equipped with measurement devices during maximum loads on the network. The route included main streets, most populated areas, the city’s centre and suburbs. The route’s length totaled around 1500 km and around 1000 measurements have been made.
