Production in construction up by 0.5% in euro area
OREANDA-NEWS. In October 2015 compared with September 2015, seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector increased by 0.5% in the euro area (EA19) and by 0.1% in the EU28, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In September 2015, production in construction fell by 0.7% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the EU28.
In October 2015 compared with October 2014. production in construction grew by 1.1% in the euro area and by 1.2% in the EU28.
Monthly comparison by construction sector and by Member State
The increase of 0.5% in production in construction in the euro area in October 2015. compared with September 2015, is due to civil engineering rising by 1.5% and building construction by 0.3%.
In the EU28, the increase of 0.1% is due to civil engineering rising by 0.4% and building construction by 0.1%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in production in construction were recorded in Slovakia (+2.4%). Sweden (+1.8%). Spain (+1.3%) and Romania (+1.0%), and the largest decreases in Hungary (-7.6%). Poland (-1.6%) and the Czech Republic (-1.5%).

The increase of 1.1% in production in construction in the euro area in October 2015, compared with October 2014. is due to civil engineering rising by 1.1% and building construction by 1.0%.
In the EU28. the increase of 1.2% is due to civil engineering rising by 3.0% and building construction by 1.0%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in production in construction were recorded in Slovakia (+29.7%). Sweden (+13.8%). Romania (+10.2%) and Spain (+8.2%), and the largest decreases in Slovenia (-11.8%). Hungary (-7.8%) and Bulgaria (-5.2%).
