Swiss NPP completed acceptance procedure of MSZ-produced fuel
OREANDA-NEWS. The acceptance procedure of nuclear fuel was completed in PJSC MSZ (Elektrostal, Moscow Region). The fuel was produced for G?sgen NPP (Switzerland) in frames of cooperation between Fuel Company of ROSATOM TVEL and French-German company Areva GmbH.
The European delegation of specialists from Areva GmbH and representative of the Swiss nuclear power plant Marcus Ammon conducted a set of measures of supervision over the nuclear fuel assembly fabrication for G?sgen NPP as prescribed by the contract. The foreign partners visited the fuel assembly fabrication section and did a qualitative analysis of the documentation for fuel assemblies.
The partners got certain that the issues of quality and safety were traditionally of outmost attention. Marcus Ammon says the intended program has been fulfilled in full scope, negotiations and meetings with the Russian partners are of affirmative nature.
Joint work of PJSC MSZ and German-French company Areva GmbH has started more than 20 years ago. In 1994, the fabrication process of nuclear fuel assemblies with recycled uranium of Areva NP design for PWR reactors was qualified. First 4 FAs were fabricated in 1996 for Obrigheim NPP (Germany). Two years later, in 1998, first 4 FAs were made for G?sgen NPP. PJSC MSZ has made a total of 580 FSa for G?sgen NPP over the years of cooperation.
