OREANDA-NEWS. MegaFon’s music festival MEGAFONLIVE has won a prestigiousInnovation Time 2015 award in the category Best Application of Innovation in a Project/Event Project of the Year/Technological Innovation of the Year. The win was announced at an award ceremony at President Hotel in Moscow on December 14.

“This win in the Innovation Time awards is very important for us. We strongly believe that today’s mobile technologies exist to bring people closer together. MegaFon’s specialists work day in day out on network quality and services so that each and every subscriber, even in the remotest parts of the world, can hear a loved one’s voice and share moments of joy. The MEGAFONLIVE music festival was excellent confirmation of our success in this area,” said Varvara Khmelkova, Manager, Sponsorship and partnership, MegaFon.

MEGAFONLIVE was a unique nationwide interactive music festival held on 15 August through 26 September in 10 Russian cities and involving famous Russian rock musicians from across the country. The main innovation in the project was that it offered an absolutely new format for Russia of having two performances at the same time in two cities linked up live using high-speed MegaFon Internet.

The idea of the festival was to unite people with similar interests from different corners of the country. MegaFon truly brought hundreds of thousands of people closer together in Moscow, St Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk, Samara and Kazan. Just like MegaFon unites people across Russia, the MEGAFONLIVE concerts united people from different cities. MegaFon also made sure that access to the music and fun was unhindered and organized a special zone for more than 100 guests with disabilities.

The independent Innovation Time awards have existed for five years and are awarded for achievements in innovation and the venture capital business that have been recognized by the public and business community. Its main goal is to identify and recognize the best innovative projects and practices designed to stimulate and apply innovation in various fields and also to raise public interest in science. The awards were created by the Social Projects Foundation with support from the Russian Economic Development Ministry.
