Ford Korea Launches New Ford Kuga, First Ever Diesel SUV
The engine delivers a maximum of 180 horsepower and 40.8 kg/m torque, even at low RPM, and responds quickly at low speed. The Kuga also sports best-in-class fuel economy at 13 km/L.
The new Kuga offers diverse features that raise fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness. The Auto Start-Stop System is ideal for driving in congested city areas, reducing fuel consumption and emissions by five to 10 percent when the vehicle is not in motion. The transmission’s dual-clutch six-speed PowerShift also makes gear changes more flexible.
The latest Intelligent AWD and Torque on Demand systems supply the optimum amount of torque to each wheel, and guarantee ultra-responsive handling on any terrain. The new Kuga’s suspension and handling were refined through testing in N?rburgring, Germany to satisfy drivers looking for dynamic vehicle performance.
Incorporating Ford’s Core Smart Technology, the New Kuga Offers Superior Safety and Driver Assistance
The new Kuga incorporates a range of innovative safety and driver assistance technologies, including an Intelligent Protection System, which uses an array of sensors to protect passengers.
Ford used high-strength steel to construct its safety cage chassis and added Electronic Stability Control to enhance safety. Also available as standard is the seven-airbag system, placed near the driver, passenger and back seats. The Kuga is equipped with the Bi-Xenon HID headlights, including LED daytime running lights. The Bi-Xenon HID headlights, with self-leveling and cornering light functions, adjust themselves according to the driving situations and ensure optimal night vision.
A package of sensors throughout the vehicle brings a new level of vehicle reaction and safety. The lane keeping system minimizes unintended lane departure, the adaptive cruise control maintains safe distance from other vehicles, and heads-up display and alarm were incorporated to provide improved protection. The Active City Stop also boosts vehicle safety by detecting obstacles and traffic on road and automatically activating brakes to help avoid accidents.
In addition to safety features, the new Kuga integrates numerous driver-assist and entertainment features, including a hands-free tailgate, which opens with a simple kick. Additionally, the vehicle’s Active Park Assist utilizes sensors and an audio guide to make parking easier and the voice-activated SYNC™ 2 offers upgraded interface.
