OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2015. According to a new policy of the IMF, if Russia continues to refuse restructuring of Ukraine’s debt, it won’t be an obstacle to the International Monetary Fund to prolong the cooperation program with Ukraine, announced Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a Government meeting on Wednesday, 9 December.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that the International Monetary Fund had altered its policy regarding the relations of the IMF with other countries, including Ukraine: "Under this policy, in case Russia further refuses to restructure the debt on the same terms, other creditors have accepted, it won’t be an obstacle to the International Monetary Fund to continue the program of cooperation with Ukraine".

He stressed that Ukraine's position "remains unchanged": "We offered to all international creditors to hold restructuring. All responsible international bond-holders accepted the proposal of Ukraine. Our suggestion to others who have not accepted our restructuring plan remains on the table."

"Russia can’t and won’t be offered other conditions to the restructuring than other creditors. Therefore, if Russia is ready to accept the terms of the restructuring, please do. If Russia files a lawsuit against Ukraine, we are ready to have legal proceedings with Russia, we are fully armed," stressed Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

Moreover, the Prime Minister also informed that day the Russian Federation "actually decided to refuse to abide by the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights": "This decision has a clear motivation. Ukraine has filed several lawsuits against the Russian Federation to the European Court of Human Rights over Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea and demanding the compensation of trillion losses entailed by the illegal annexation of Crimea. The Russian Federation is well aware they will lose this action. However, that won't prevent us from satisfying the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights and we’ll institute legal proceedings in other courts and in other countries."
