OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, and the government of the Republic of Khakasia have signed an agreement on cooperation in developing telecom sector. Tele2 is planning to invest over 600 mn rubles in the region’s mobile infrastructure and social projects between 2015−2019.

The agreement has been signed by Tele2 CEO Mikhail Noskov and Republic of Khakasia head Viktor Zimin. The agreement is seeking to lay foundation for cooperation between Tele2 and the republic’s government. Their joint activities will aim to develop mobile infrastructure, increase investment into economy and implement social and economic projects.

This investment project implies developing and expanding the network’s coverage in order to provide residents with high-quality voice and high-speed wireless Internet.

In September 2015, Tele2 launched services under its brand and commissioned the 3G network in the republic. On 17 November, the company started providing high-speed wireless Internet based on the 4G technology that will be available to the operator’s subscribers in Abakan and Chernogorsk. Most investment will be made into the network coverage and increase in 3G/4G capacity in the region.
