OREANDA-NEWS. December 07, 2015. Forget the ugly sweaters, another necktie or footie pajamas. This holiday season Consumers Energy recommends a gift that fits every personality, age and relationship – Gifts of Energy to help warm homes.

"Gifts of Energy certificates are a welcome addition to anyone's gift list. They are thoughtful yet practical, because the certificates can be used like cash to help pay a Consumers Energy natural gas or electric bill," said

Amy Walt, the company's executive director of customer operations. "The gift of a warm home is always welcomed by everyone, whether it's a relative, friend, co-worker, neighbor, service provider or someone in financial need."

Many service clubs, charitable organizations and emergency responders such as fire and police departments value Gifts of Energy, and both purchase and welcome donations of certificates to provide to those in need.

Consumers Energy Gifts of Energy:

  • Never expire.
  • Are available in amounts of \\$10, \\$20 and \\$50.
  • Can be mailed with monthly Consumers Energy bill payments, or applied to a bill at a Consumers Energy bill payment office. The amount is deducted from the bill total.
  • Cannot be redeemed for cash.

"Gifts of Energy don't include the buyer's name, so they work especially well for those who want to anonymously help someone in your family, neighborhood or place of worship," Walt said.

Consumers Energy, Michigan's largest utility, is the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy (NYSE: CMS), providing natural gas and electricity to 6.6 million of the state's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
