OREANDA-NEWS. December 04, 2015. E.ON is successfully expanding its position in the German energy efficiency market. The Group’s subsidiary for integrated energy solutions for industrial, commercial and public-sector customers – E.ON Connecting Energies (ECT) – is implementing a comprehensive energy saving program which will deliver substantial energy efficiency improvements for the Turbo division of Voith GmbH. The specialist in intelligent drive solutions and systems has set itself the goal of reducing energy consumption at the plant in Garching by 20 percent until the end of the financial year 2017/2018.

After almost a year of analysis and concept development, the energy saving program was launched on 1 December 2015 at Voith’s site in Garching near Munich. All structural measures have already been implemented. They will deliver savings of more than 40 percent in the energy costs arising from the building’s technical installations. At the same time CO2 emissions will be reduced by around 1,000 tons a year. The savings will be achieved both through reductions in gas use for space heating as well as energy efficiency measures for ventilation systems and pumps.

“The project shows how an integrated overall concept tailored to the customer can achieve significantly greater energy savings than a conventional approach”, explains Robert Hienz, CEO of ECT. Bodo Klein, member of the management board at Voith Turbo with responsibility for the Commercial Vehicles division comments: “At Voith sustainability and the responsible use of resources are part of the company philosophy. Thanks to ECT we are able to achieve good results in the area of energy consumption.”

Voith operates in a wide variety of markets including energy, oil and gas, paper, raw materials as well as transport and automotive. Established in 1867, Voith is today one of Europe’s biggest family-run companies with more than 43,000 employees, 5.7 billion euros in turnover and locations in more than 50 countries worldwide.
