General Motors Joins UN Global Compact
GM analyzed its current policies, processes and practices and found close alignment with the U.N. Global Compact’s principles. The company will maintain these principles throughout its global operations and seek opportunities to collaborate through the U.N. network to advance broader initiatives such as the Sustainable Development Goals.
GM supports accountability and transparency and will communicate efforts and its performance toward these 10 principles in its sustainability report to be released in May 2016.
The U.N. Global Compact is a leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible corporate policies and practices. Launched in 2000, it is largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with over 8,000 companies and 4,000 non-business signatories based in 160 countries.
General Motors Co. (NYSE:GM, TSX: GMM) and its partners produce vehicles in 30 countries, and the company has leadership positions in the world's largest and fastest-growing automotive markets. GM, its subsidiaries and joint venture entities sell vehicles under the Chevrolet, Cadillac, Baojun, Buick, GMC, Holden, Jiefang, Opel, Vauxhall and Wuling brands.
