Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Kuniharu Nakamura) received the Global Partner Award from Royal Dutch Shell plc (Head Office: The Hague, Netherlands; CEO: Ben van Beurden; hereinafter, “Shell”) together with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Kosei Shindo; hereinafter, “NSSMC”) at the supplier engagement session held by Shell on November 18, 2015.

The Global Partner Award is one of the awards granted at the supplier engagement session that Shell annually holds by inviting suppliers, and is given to the suppliers who have made outstanding contributions to Shell’s oil and gas production activities. Sumitomo Corporation and NSSMC received the Award in recognition of their excellent capabilities to develop and supply high-quality tubular products as well as of Sumitomo Corporation’s supply chain management ability, provision of related materials and associated services, and ability to propose fit-for-purpose business scheme and other value-added proposals.

Sumitomo Corporation and NSSMC have been contributing to the development of Shell’s business over 40 years based on the long-term supply agreement for oil country tubular goods. The two companies made such contributions by offering total solutions, including ensuring the stable supply of high-performance oil country tubular goods, enhancing delivery service through supply chain management, and meeting localization needs in countries around the world. Sumitomo Corporation will continue striving to make high value-added proposals and provide high-quality services, thereby making even more contributions to oil and gas development in the recent trend of increased globalization.
