OREANDA-NEWS. Universal mobile operator MegaFon has been recognized in the ComNews Awards 2015 as the leader in the category “Biggest Number of 4G and LTE Advanced Base Stations”.

The ComNews Awards are presented annually based on an analysis of quantitative and comparative indicators that reflect companies’ effectiveness in the information and communications technologies field. Last year MegaFon was awarded for the biggest number of 4G base stations.

“MegaFon’s federal network is constantly developing. We are building new base stations for allcommunications standards, expanding coverage and improving call quality so that our customers from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok feel genuinely close. The company’s drive to always be first in 4G opens up a broad range of services for MegaFon users, from traditional mobile Internet through to state-of-the-art M2M monitoring based on rapid processing of big data. At the end of the day, the success of any infrastructure project depends on what customers choose. Today millions of users across Russia choose MegaFon because we are the 4G leaders,” said Evgeny Chermashentsev, Executive Director, MegaFon.

In 2014 the regional reach of MegaFon’s 4G network rose 23% and the number of base stations exceeded 18,500. 4G+ is available in 14 of the 15 cities of Russia with a population of over 1 million and covers 74 Russian regions. The LTE Advanced network allows data to be exchanged at speeds of up to 300 MB/s.

Last year MegaFon was also a winner at the ComNews Awards in the category “Most Dynamically Developing Mobile Operator”. In 2013 the company’s subscriber base rose almost 9%. The biggest increase was in the wireless broadband segment, where the customer base rose 20.1%.
