OREANDA-NEWS. On November 26 JSC Rusatom Overseas, Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation company, and Rosatom’ Central Institute for Continuing Education and Training (Rosatom-CICE&T) took part in the Annual Autumn Seminar for members of the FinNuclear Association.

A report about Russian nuclear technologies, about experience in NPP construction in Russia and key NPP construction projects of Rosatom abroad was presented by Jukka Laaksonen, Adviser to Director General of JSC Rusatom Overseas, a minority shareholder of Fennovoima – owner and operator of Hanhikivi-1 NPP. The general Supplier for Hanhikivi-1 NPP construction is RAOS Project Oy, a subsidiary of JSC Rusatom Overseas.

“JSC Rusatom Overseas is at the forefront of NPP construction… They have good financing experts and are able to organize financing for the clients. All Russian [nuclear energy] design organizations have a very small staff turnover, so people like their work and have extensive knowledge, which they can then pass on. This is in my opinion one of the best features of the Russian nuclear sector,” said Jukka Laaksonen.

A presentation about history of Rosatom-CICE&T, principal directions in the institute activity and about its capabilities in training of specialists for nuclear power engineering was made by Prof. Vladimir Artisiuk, Vice-Rector for international activities – Director of the Department for International Cooperation of Rosatom-CICE&T.

“Rosatom-CICE&T is Rosatom’s leading center for training of specialists for development of nuclear programs in countries starting or expanding their nuclear power engineering. Rosatom-CICE&T has a number of courses in English focused on competence development of foreign specialists in the field of nuclear infrastructure and NPP construction. This experience may serve as a good basis for development of joint projects aimed at potential cooperation with Finnish stakeholders with regard to training of personnel for the Hanhikivi-1 NPP construction project”, said Vladimir Artisiuk. Hе also told the workshop participants about Rosatom-CICE&T collaboration with IAEA and European Nuclear Education Network, as well as cooperation with Finnish organizations on training of personnel for the Hanhikivi-1 NPP construction project.

Reports were also presented by representatives from Fennovoima, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and the Russian company Titan-2, main building contractor which is already performing preparatory works at the Hanhikivi NPP construction site.

The FinNuclear workshop was attended by more than 70 representatives of leading engineering and energy companies and organizations involved in implementation of nuclear energy projects and programs.
