OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2015. CoremanNet was awarded the Federal Ecodesign Award by the German Federal Environment Ministry and the German Federal Environment Office. According to the jury, the service for circular economy was awarded the renowned distinction in the “service” category for being a service provider “completing material cycles, significantly saving resources and being applicable to other sectors.” The award was issued in the course of a gala at the Federal Environment Ministry on November 23, 2015. By now, CoremanNet already runs the world’s largest service network for the return of automotive spare parts for their remanufacturing. Throughout the upcoming years, solutions for additional sectors are to further the growth even more.

CoremanNet allows systematic circular economy
With its international logistics network and its innovative IT solution, CoremanNet allows a systematic circular economy for used parts. CoremanNet retrieves the so-called cores from the market, identifies them and checks them based on technical criteria. Afterwards, they are sorted and provided to the remanufacturers with the required quality and on time for the remanufacturing. CoremanNet systematically records the transferable rights to return cores. A balance of rights to return and returned parts is available to all participating trade levels and at any time.

Saving resources by means of effective core management
With a return rate of approximately 90 percent and the largest collection volume on the automotive aftermarket, CoremanNet achieves top results and thus allows industrial remanufacturing of cores. In comparison to the production of new parts, this allows savings of raw materials of approximately 85 percent and energy savings of some 55 percent. On an annual basis, this allows saving 400,000 metric tons of CO2 on the automotive sector in the EU.

Sector-independent core management
At first, Bosch developed the CoremanNet collection service for its own exchange-parts range Bosch eXchange. Since then, CoremanNet has become established as an independent brand with a network consisting of 17 locations across Europe for the collection and processing of cores and being represented in the NAFTA region and in China, as well. CoremanNet offers its services to all market players – also to those ones not related to the automotive industry. All information concerning the core-collection service can be consulted online at www.coremannet.com.

Ecodesign jury nominated 34 projects out of 288 candidates
The Federal Ecodesign Award, awarded for the fourth consecutive time this year, honors products, services and concepts standing out for their ecological and creative quality. For this year’s Ecodesign competition, a total of 288 candidates applied for the product, concept, service and young-talent categories. Out of these candidates, the experts of the Federal Environment Office and design experts selected a total of 137 projects. Out of these, the jury, made up to several prominent personalities, nominated 34 projects. Four of them were finally awarded the 2015 Federal Ecodesign Award. In 2016, the award winners and nominees will be presented at a touring exhibition on fairs and in museums all over the Federal Republic of Germany being accompanied by workshops and events.
