Government initiates the establishment of eight trade representative offices of Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2015. The Government of Ukraine proposes to set up a trade representative office in Brussels, Washington, China, Egypt, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Turkey, announced Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the Cabinet’s meeting.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that on January 1, 2016 the Agreement on free trade area between Ukraine and the European Union would enter into force.
The Government "expects Russia’s introduction of economic embargo against Ukraine," he stressed, adding that "each such decision of Russia will entail an appropriate decision of Ukraine."
"We forecast that from January 1, through the introduced restrictions by Russia, Ukrainian exports will decline by US\\$ 600 million. But we have new opportunities primarily due to the Agreement on free trade area with the European Union", said the Head of Government.
Aimed at the development of Ukrainian exports, providing an opportunity to diversify markets and enhance the delivery of qualitative and competitive Ukrainian products abroad, the Government will trigger the establishment of eight trade missions of Ukraine in Brussels, Washington, China, Egypt, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Turkey, Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.
"Under the law, it is within the competence of the President of Ukraine, and I believe that the President of Ukraine will support the drive of the Government," Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.
The Prime Minister informed that following week Gov’t officials would hold a meeting with the largest Ukrainian exporters: "The meeting will concern a definite action plan on how to expand the geography of Ukrainian exports and to support Ukrainian exporters in their strive to ramp up production".
