Tele2 offers most profitable tariffs in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has its rates for individuals recognized as most profitable on the Russian market. Such conclusion has been reached based on an independent research of mobile phone tariffs among major mobile operators, which was carried out by ComNews Research in September 2015.
To assess mobile phone tariffs of various operators, ComNews Research used a methodology of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. It has been applied for the monitoring of mobile phone tariffs in EU members and adapted to Russian specifics.
The methodology is based on three different types of mobile services use: low, moderate and high. Each of them corresponds to a certain package of mobile services, a so-called "basket of mobile services". In 2015 ComNews made some changes in a methodology for evaluating the baskets and considerably expanded the packages. This is caused by a rapid rollout of 3G/4G networks in Russia and a wide use of package tariffs by operators. Analytics have calculated an average value of the three bundles – a basic, average and expensive basket of mobile services − and compared their cost in regions and operators breakout.
For the fourth year in a row Tele2 is becoming the most profitable operator in all-Russian categories – a small basket of goods and an average basket of goods. In September 2015, the cost of these baskets totaled 74 rubles and 200 rubles correspondently, which is 33% lower than average Russian rates.
Tele2 offers most profitable tariffs among the four largest operators in the expensive basket. Its cost for subscribers using large volumes of traffic totals 313 rubles, which is 12% below an average rate in the country.
Besides, Tele2 is a leader in terms of a number of Russian constituent territories where its basic, average and expensive baskets of goods are considered as most profitable – their number totals 54, 51 and 33 regions correspondently. Thus, the company achieved best results simultaneously in all categories which neither of its competitors could boast of over a six-year research.
According to analytics, a level of competition considerably influences the cost of mobile services in Russian regions. Regions where at least three operators are working on the market offer lower prices. The most affordable prices are registered in Irkutsk and Nizhniy Novgorod regions, the Republic of Adygeya. The most elevated prices were fixed in the most remote regions of the country − the Chukotka Autonomous Area, Magadan Region and the Kamchatka Territory. As well as in Moscow and Moscow Region because the research has been made before the launch of Tele2 operations in the capital.
