Sberbank Supports 'Robot Wars' in Perm
OREANDA-NEWS. At the Perm Engineering and Industrial Forum a unique event took place - a Russian version of "Robot Wars", which was supported by Sberbank. Sixteen fighting machines built by Russian engineers took to the arena. "Robot Wars" was organised by the Moscow Technological Institute and Promobot.
Sberbank is a fine example of a company that is continually developing. This year the bank invested in interesting start-ups that will enable it to make ambitious technological breakthroughs. One example is Segmento.
This is a platform that uses artificial intelligence and big data, and will enable Sberbank to utilise the largest set of consumer behaviour data on the Russian market. The Platius project is aimed at creating a nationwide mobile payment system.
"Robot Wars" have been held in the U.S., Japan and Europe since the mid-90s. Participants include school children, students and professional engineers. Championships attract fans from all over the world and are broadcast on TV and the internet. This Russian version of "Robot Wars" was also supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Perm Region's Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade. Sberbank was an official partner of the event.
The competition was held as a play-off in accordance with the standard rules of the International Fighting Robots Association. Competitors battled with one another in an arena riddled with obstacles and traps. The robots, which were controlled remotely by their creators, had to survive each round in order to win.
