OREANDA-NEWS. Power management company Eaton has been recognized as a leader among S&P 500 companies and named to the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) by environmental non-profit CDP. This is the seventh year Eaton has received a position on the CDP’s S&P 500 CDLI in recognition of the depth and quality of its climate change data disclosure. The news comes three weeks ahead of COP21, the U.N. climate change conference, when national leaders meet to agree on a global deal to reduce carbon emissions and limit temperature warming.

“More than a responsibility, sustainability is fundamental to our business and pivotal to our future success,” said Harold Jones, Eaton’s senior vice president for Environment, Health and Safety. “Our inclusion in the CDLI demonstrates the progress we’re making to be transparent in our effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, water and energy consumption, and eliminate landfill waste.”

Eaton achieved its position with a perfect score of 100 in the CDLI. Eaton global facilities adhere to one set of standards, such as carbon emissions, energy and water consumption and waste treatment, and are united to help customers manage power more efficiently and safely by deploying the company’s energy-efficient products and technologies.

“As the world looks beyond the Paris climate change negotiations and prepares for a low carbon future, reliable information about how companies are responding to the transition will be ever more valuable,” said Paul Dickinson, executive chairman and co-founder of CDP.  “For this reason we congratulate those businesses that have achieved a position on CDP’s Climate Disclosure Leadership Index.”

Eaton has received widespread recognition for responsible business practices. The company first began issuing a sustainability report as part of its annual report in 2006. Recent honors for responsible business practices include:

  • Ranked among the world’s top sustainability performers in the NASDAQ Global Sustainability 100 Index
  • One of Corporate Responsibility Officer Magazine’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens, 2007 – 2015
  • Ranked 22nd on the list of Top 500 Enterprises for China Corporate Social Responsibility 2015 for energy innovation and sustainable development
