OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2015. Doosan announced on Nov. 5 that Group Chairman Yongmaan Park and the rest of the executive team have contributed to the “Youth Hope Fund,” joining government-led efforts to create jobs for youths in Korea. Doosan donated a total of 3.5 billion won, a combined fund of 3 billion won from the personal assets of Chairman Yongmaan Park and 500 million won from donations made by company executives.

“The youth employment problem is one of the most pressing issues we are faced with,” said Chairman Yongmaan Park. “We hope that our contributions help create good jobs through which our future generation can foster their capabilities and talents.”

Previously, Doosan Group announced that Chairman Park donated 10 billion won to support the Dongdaemun Future Foundation. The foundation was established on Oct. 26 with an aim to invigorate business and promote balanced growth in the Dongdaemun area. The fund started off with assets of 20 billion won—10 billion won from Chairman Park and 10 billion won from Doosan Group.

Regarding youth job creation, if Doosan wins a license to operate a duty-free store at Doosan Tower, Dongdaemun, it plans to offer full-time regular employment to all of the store’s new recruits and introduce a 46 percent youth employment quota at the store.
