New Lincoln MKX Released for Luxury Consumers in Korea
OREANDA-NEWS. Ford Korea recently revealed the new Lincoln MKX at a media showcase, with more than 120 media outlets on hand. Also in attendance were special guests, Dean Stoneley, vice president of sales, Ford Asia Pacific, and Mark W. Lippert, Untied States Ambassador to Korea.
The ‘MKX Night Out’ event was held later that evening to celebrate the official launch of the MKX and to meet with local customers. Over 250 fans, bloggers and VIPs enjoyed the event, including the famous Korean vocal artist, Mr. Kim, Yeon-Woo, who would perform in a live concert at the event.
Held at COEX Intercontinental Hotel’s Harmony Hall in Samsung-dong, Seoul, the event portrayed the new Lincoln MKX’s performance, design, and exceptional value through videos related to Lincoln’s seven themes, including balance, immersion, and energy. The three-dimensional multiclip will be played on a large screen along with a performance to highlight key features of the new MKX.
“This event is held to share the diverse attraction that the new MKX holds and the sensibility of Lincoln brand,” said Jae Jung, president and CEO, Ford Korea. “We would like to spend meaningful time with Lincoln fans and customers.”
Excellent Power and an Optimum Driving Environment
Featuring a 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost engine, it offers an impressive 340 horsepower. Together with its six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters, the new MKX boasts high-end performance. It is also equipped with Lincoln’s integral rear suspension and a reinforced chassis component to give an enhanced driving experience to the driver.
Upgraded Features Provide Driver with Comfort and Safety
The new MKX gives the driver a 360-degree view, with four cameras around the exterior. The front camera, placed behind Lincoln emblem in the front grille, is only exposed when turned on, and helps the driver to see better in cross-traffic situations.
The new MKX has a pre-collision assist system, which helps avoid or lower the severity of frontal crashes with another vehicle or a pedestrian. If the system detects an obstacle, the system first gives a collision warning and then will automatically apply the brake if the driver does not take corrective action. The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) detects and alerts the driver of nearby objects while parking and driving.
The new MKX protects its passengers with seven airbags along with a Personal Safety System, front-passenger sensing system, patented Safety Canopy System, and a rollover sensor. In addition, Lincoln includes an inflatable safety belt in the back seat, developed by Ford, which can protect children in event of an accident.
The enhanced Active Park Assist system helps with parallel parking, perpendicular parking, and park out assist. The system steers the vehicle, while the driver controls the gear, brake, and accelerator pedal as directed by the system.
The new MKX also includes exclusive Approach Detection, sensing an approaching driver from up to three meters away. It then illuminates its exterior LED lamps and signature headlamps, as well as a Lincoln welcome mat, helping the driver enter the vehicle.
Lincoln Design Philosophy
The new MKX features a dramatic exterior design, with a modern and contemporary silhouette and well-balanced proportions. The adaptive LED headlamps provide optimum lighting according to vehicle speed, and are horizontally aligned with Lincoln’s signature Split-Wing grille.
The interior design creates an open yet comfortable environment. The push-button shifter creates a dramatic open suspension bridge that flows from the instrument panel to the center console, providing two tiers of open space. The panoramic Vista Roof also delivers a feeling of openness, while its open pore wood trim and Bridge of Weir deepsoft premium leather seating delivers a feeling of luxury.
Revel Audio System
The new MKX brings the Revel Ultima Audio System to the automotive industry, for the very first time. Revel is a premium HARMAN International loudspeaker brand, famous for its home audio system.
Working with Lincoln engineers and designers, Revel designed a 19-speaker Revel Ultima system for the new MKX. With QuantumLogic, Lincoln owners use the touchscreen to select from three distinct listening modes. Revel Ultima systems include a patented Clari-Fi HARMAN technology, which rebuilds the audio details often lost during the digital compression process. Clari-Fi intelligently and seamlessly reconstructs digitally compressed music for an enhanced listening experience, regardless of the source.
