SGX: Largest Information Technology Stocks Averaged 5% Return in Oct 2015
OREANDA-NEWS. More than one in 10 stocks listed on SGX are categorised to the Information Technology (IT) sector. They have a combined market value of more than S$10 billion. The IT sector can be broken down into three industry groups – Semiconductors & Semiconductor Equipment, Software & Services, and Technology Hardware & Equipment.
The 10 largest IT stocks have a combined market capitalisation of S$6.9 billion, and represent nine different fields of the Information Technology business – Electronic Manufacturing Services, Application Software, Technology Distributors, Technology Hardware, Storage & Peripherals, Internet Software & Services, Electronic Equipment & Instruments, Electronic Components, IT Consulting & Other Services and Semiconductor Equipment.
These 10 stocks generated a 4.9% total return in the month of Oct 2015, taking the year-to-date and annualised three-year total returns to negative 6.1% and 9.1% respectively. They generated mixed performances in the year thus far, with five gainers and five decliners.
Among the 10 largest stocks categorised to the Information Technology sector, the five best performers in the year thus far were iFAST Corporation, Chuan Hup Holdings, Venture Corporation, GP Industries and UMS Holdings. Together, these five stocks have averaged a 19.4% year-to-date return.

Largest IT stock – Venture Corp.
Venture Corporation provides technology services, products, and solutions worldwide. Their business consists of three segments: Electronics Services Provider, Retail Store Solutions and Industrial, and Component Technology. It offers manufacturing, product design and development, engineering, supply-chain management, and fulfilment services to the electronics industry. Venture Corp comprises about 40 companies located in South-east Asia, North Asia, America and Europe and employs more than 12,000 people worldwide.
In its 2014 Annual Report, Venture Corp segmented 96.5% of its FY2014 revenue to the Asia-Pacific region. Over the past three years, Venture Corp generated a 10.0% price gain compared to the Straits Times Index, which gained 7.6% over the period.
