Nestle Jamaica Ltd. to divest its locally manufactured dairy business
OREANDA-NEWS. Nestlé Jamaica Ltd. has decided to divest its locally manufactured dairy business to Musson International Dairies Limited; a subsidiary of the Musson Group of Companies, a leading food processor and manufacturer in the Caribbean.
The transaction includes Nestlé’s SUPLIGEN® and BETTY® brands, as well as the manufacturing and distribution facilities at the Bybrook factory. The approximately 130 concerned employees will be offered employment in the new organisation.
Nestlé Jamaica Ltd. has also decided to phase out the MILO® repackaging process at Bybrook by the end of 2015, moving to a full importation model. A social plan including counselling, training courses and financial planning will be offered to the 10 employees who work in this area.
Nestlé has had a strong presence in Jamaica for 75 years. Nestlé remains committed to its consumers, its customers and its employees. Going forward, Nestlé Jamaica Ltd. will focus its marketing, sales and distribution efforts on its international brands – MILO®, MAGGI®, NESCAFÉ®, NESFRUTY®, COFFEEMATE®, NESTUM®, CERELAC®, KLIM®, CARNATION® and GLORIA®–. This will be carried out by its own dedicated organization, having a new Head Office and warehouse becoming operational at the end of 2016.
