OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2015.  The nonprofit advocacy group Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has named Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) as a 2016 "Best Place to Work" for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees. The Washington, D.C.-based HRC gave Raytheon a perfect 100 percent rating for the eleventh consecutive year.

HRC, the largest LGBT civil rights group in the U.S., surveyed 1,027 businesses for its annual Corporate Equality Index. The survey evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.

"Our eleventh consecutive 100 percent rating on the HRC Corporate Equality Index reflects the success of Raytheon's efforts to provide an inclusive workplace for all employees," said Emanuel Brady, vice president and chief diversity officer for Raytheon. "The values of diversity, inclusion and respect are at the foundation of Raytheon's culture. They are embedded into all that we do."

Raytheon has long been a diversity pioneer in the aerospace and defense sector. In January, 2002, it became one of the first in the industry to adopt a benefits policy for domestic partners. In 2005, it became the first defense company to receive a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index.
