Novosibirsk regional government declares MegaFon Best Charity Donor of the Year
OREANDA-NEWS. Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk region Victor Shevchenko has awarded MegaFon a prize for implementing long-term and systemic projects in the region.
The 2nd Interregional Charity and Volunteering Forum of the Novosibirsk region “Making things happen together” was held in Novosibirsk, organized by the Ministry of Regional Policy of the Novosibirsk region.
“Making things happen together” is above all a platform for discussing current issues concerning developing a volunteering movement and volunteering itself in the Novosibirsk region. Deputy Minister for Regional Policy of the Novosibirsk region Svetlana Shibaeva and member of the regional parliament and Olympic champion Evgeny Podgorny, participating in the discussions, highlighted the importance of a systems approach to all types of charity, as well as the value of non-commercial organizations, the state and business all working together.
The forum reviewed charitable and voluntary work in the region in 2015. Expert Commission, which included representatives of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Public Chamber of the Novosibirsk region, considered around 50 candidates in five nomination categories. Awards for Best Charity Donor of the Year were won by MegaFon, Rushydro and СDEK courier company. The awards were presented by Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk region Victor Shevchenko.
“MegaFon Siberia has been supporting systemic and long-term charitable projects aimed at addressing causes rather than consequences for several years. We are delighted that the regional government sees that we are on the same wave length and recognizes the work that we have carried out,” said Alexey Kalinin, Director for Public Relations of MegaFon’s Siberian branch.
This year, MegaFon’s charity committee has approved three Novosibirsk projects: Socialization and adaptation of orphaned children in association with children’s charity Heart of Peace (“Serdce Mira”), Table games without limits with the voluntary organization Little Ray of Sunshine (“Luchik Sveta”), and the allocation of funds to build a playground for disabled children proposed by the charity Thank You (“Spasibo”). Moreover, a film was recorded and presented focusing on Siberian participants in honour of the tenth anniversary of the “Future depends on you” football championship among teams from children’s homes and special residential schools.
