OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2015. Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that it will launch Chroma Meters CS-150 and CS-160 and Luminance Meters LS-150 and LS-160 in succession starting from December 2015.

Prior to their launch, Konica Minolta will unveil these new models at Inter BEE 2015, Japan’s largest exhibition of broadcast equipment and the latest audiovisual and lighting technologies to be held at Makuhari Messe from November 18 to 20, 2015.

The CS-150, CS-160, LS-150, and LS-160 are light-measuring devices capable of helping to maintain the quality of a variety of light sources at a high level due to their wider measurement ranges that extend to much higher luminances than those of conventional devices.

Chroma Meters CS-150 and CS-160

CS-150 / CS-160 Chroma Meters CS-150 and CS-160 are the successors to the CS-100 (launched in 1986) and CS-100A (launched in 2000), and are capable of measuring chromaticity, luminance, and correlated color temperature values to help ensure the stable quality of various light sources in terms of brightness and color.

These models are equipped with new sensors that more closely match the CIE 1931 color-matching functions which correspond to the sensitivity of the human eye, and thus can provide measurement results that closely correlate with visual evaluation results.

The brightness and color of light greatly affect our impressions of the displays of smartphones or tablet computers, movie theater screens, etc., and these instruments allow users to better control light quality.

The CS-150 with the 1° measuring angle of its predecessor together with the new CS-160 which has a smaller measuring angle of 1/3° enable measurements of the luminance and chromaticity of small light-emitting surfaces, such as micro displays or of small, sharply defined areas of distant light sources such as traffic or street lights.

Luminance Meters LS-150 and LS-160

LS-150 / LS-160 Luminance Meters LS-150 and LS-160 are the successors of the LS-100 and LS-110 (launched in 1987), and are capable of measuring luminance to help ensure the stable quality of light sources in terms of brightness.

These models are equipped with a new auto mode which automatically selects the measurement speed best suited for the luminance of the object to be measured and thus enhances the work efficiency of users. They are the optimal choice for measurement and evaluation of the brightness of office, road, and tunnel lighting, medical equipment displays, and other light sources for which maintaining luminance uniformity is critical.

In a broad range of fields, measurement, evaluation, and quality control is required for a wide variety of light sources, ranging from low-luminance phosphorescent materials that emit light without using electricity to heads-up displays (HUD) used in new-generation car navigation systems, and even high-luminance LED backlights used in high-dynamic-range (HDR) 4K/8K displays. The Chroma Meters and Luminance Meters being introduced this time are designed to meet such needs.

Konica Minolta, as a leading manufacturer of luminance- and chromaticity-measuring devices, continues to offer high-quality products to customers around the world. Living up to the brand proposition “Giving Shape to Ideas,” Konica Minolta remains committed to enhancing its group-wide corporate value by using its proven sensing technologies to provide solutions that cater to a variety of customer needs and maximize customer satisfaction.
