OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2015. Schibsted Spain, owner of the portals InfoJobs, fotocasa, coches.net and Milanuncios, has unveiled the platform vibbo, a rebranding of its second hand sales portal segundamano.es.

The new platform is launched with the objective of reinforcing its leadership position in the sector and reach new target audiences, which will be a cornerstone for the company’s business expansion yet.

Through the launch of this innovative marketplace, Schibsted Spain wants to secure further increase in growth. Turnover was 85 million euros in 2014, and during the first nine months of this year the company reported a 16 percent increase in its year on year earnings.

“The challenge is to continue to lead the revolution that is taking place in the online market and reach new target audiences that have changed the way in which we consume,” explains Frode Nordseth, CEO of Schibsted Spain.

The sector is evolving from an online second hand marketplace to a new scenario, the age of intelligent buying. Nordseth sees a considerable possibility for growth in Spain, with the aim to at least double the current number of ads size, based on comparison with other countries where Schibsted Group operates, such as France, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Ireland. Nordseth says that we need to have a brand that supports and enhance the innovations we have done and will introduce to the product going forward.

The launch of vibbo positions Schibsted Spain towards new consumers, “offering a medium that will enable them to buy and sell all kinds of items, from the smallest to the most relevant, without having to leave the platform. It also will soon allow the company to adapt to different search needs,” explains Carmen Limia, Marketing Director, who points out that “the essence of vibbo lies in a change of values and attitude towards life; what really matters is being, feeling and experiencing, rather than owning material goods.”

The new portal will capitalise on the successful trajectory of Segundamano.es, a long standing leader in the second hand sector in Spain, first as a magazine, more recently as a portal and then a smartphone application. The platform hosts over 2.5 million adverts in 77 product categories and more than 10 million unique users visit it every month. There has been a significant and continuous growth in our mobile apps and nowadays, 63% of the visits are from mobile devices.

For the creation of this new brand, vibbo had the support from SUMMA, a pioneer company specialised in branding consulting services in Spain. SUMMA has over 25 years of experience creating and managing brands and is the only company in the sector that has won the National Design Award, in recognition of a trajectory marked by quality and innovation.
