OREANDA-NEWS. Voting day is getting closer. On 29 November, citizens of the Free Hanseatic City will decide whether or not their city will apply to be host of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024. There is wide support amongst the population, and business is united in favour of the application. This is also true of Lufthansa Technik and Lufthansa Industry Solutions which are both based in Hamburg. Along with many other enthusiasts, apprentices from both companies participated in an event at Hamburg Airport, to show their support for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  Using just pure muscle power, approximately 100 participants pulled a 35 ton Lufthansa Boeing 737 about 100 metres on a closed-off section of runway towards the symbolic goal of “Hamburg 2024”. Apart from the apprentices, Michael Neumann, Senator for Internal Affairs, Culture and Sport in the Free Hanseatic City of Hamburg, top HSV athletes, along with the Hamburg Freezers took part in the campaign involving the Lufthansa Boeing aircraft. Since the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Lufthansa has flown German athletes to the Games – and since 2008 the Paralympic Team as well. Lufthansa is a partner of the German Olympic Sports Federation and the Association of German Disabled Sports.
