OREANDA-NEWS. Singapore Exchange’s (SGX) annual Bull Charge charity run, now in its 12th year, has raised $2.9 million this year. The funds raised will go towards supporting underprivileged children and families, persons with disabilities and the elderly from four charities - Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA), Autism Association (Singapore), Fei Yue Community Services and Shared Services for Charities.

Guest-of-Honour Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development, participated in the 5 km run, together with more than 6,000 runners at The Float@Marina Bay. Mr Tan also flagged off the 3km Chief Challenge run, where CEOs or chief of companies ran for a common cause.

“We have been inspired, year after year, by the overwhelming support that Bull Charge has received from our sponsors, listed companies and the financial community in Singapore. On behalf of SGX and the beneficiaries, I would like to thank all of those who have contributed and made today’s run a success. At SGX, we look forward to continuing this tradition of rallying together to help those in need for many more years to come,” SGX CEO Loh Boon Chye said.

The Bull Charge is the SGX’s year-long charity initiative which culminates with the charity run. Fundraising efforts earlier this year saw Singapore’s financial community and SGX-listed companies compete in a corporate relay race and tee-off at a golf tournament. All proceeds from the events go towards the four charities. A total of 144 corporate sponsors supported the Bull Charge this year.

Over the past 12 years, SGX Bull Charge has raised more than $27 million dollars for over 50 different charities.
