OREANDA-NEWS. Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited ("Takeda") today announced that it was granted "Platinum Kurumin" certification by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, under the revised Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children. The certification is awarded to companies that have already obtained "Kurumin" – awarded in recognition of a company's measures to provide support to employees with children – and have further built upon this. Takeda is the first pharmaceutical company to receive "Platinum Kurumin" certification.

Takeda developed its 4th Action Plan (from fiscal 2012 to fiscal 2014) to additionally improve the work environment for employees. Under the plan, it carried out various initiatives: raising awareness about childcare policies; encouraging employees to take annual paid leave; reducing overtime work in order to achieve a better work-life balance; and providing career-development training to female employees. The status of these measures is disclosed.

Takeda has received "Kurumin" certification three times in the past, in 2007, 2009 and 2012. "Platinum Kurumin" certification was granted in recognition of the company's determination, as demonstrated in the 4th Action Plan, to further provide support to employees combining work with childcare, in addition to measures implemented in the past.

As a "Platinum Kurumin" company, Takeda will continuously improve its work environment so that employees can fulfill their potential while achieving a harmonized work-life balance.
