OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2015. The evolution of Moldova-Sweden relations in the ICT area and relevant joint projects were discussed today, November 12, 2015, during the meeting of the acting Minister of Information Technology and Communications, Pavel Filip and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic Moldova, Mrs. Signe Burgstaller.

At the beginning of the meeting, Pavel Filip congratulated the high guest on her appointment as the head of Swedish diplomacy in Chisinau, expressing his deep appreciation for the assistance given to the Republic of Moldova by the Stockholm administration in implementing several projects. In particularly, the support of the Swedish part in the creation and development of the Centre of Excellence in ICT and development of the feasibility study for implementing the 112 Emergency Service were highlighted.

 “The international consultants contracted by the Nordic Investment Bank presented the Study on the creation of the 112 Single Emergency Services in the Republic of Moldova and on the basis of this document, the Ministry has prepared a set of draft government decisions regarding its implementation”, the Minister Pavel Filip specified.

The discussions also referred to the National Strategy Digital Moldova 2020 and Strategy for increasing the IT industry competitiveness. Pavel Filip informed that these complex policy documents correspond to the objectives set in the “Digital Agenda for Europe” and aim at modernizing the infrastructure, ensuring cyber security, developing the digital content and ICT professional skills.

In this context, Signe Burgstaller, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden assured that the Swedish party will continue to support the projects of the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, which aim at ensuring the necessary conditions for the development of the information technology industry and creation of a competitive business environment on regional level, building a modern information society and developing a quality digital education. “The ICT sector is a dynamic part of the Sweden economy, together we can find common points for both the experts and companies in this area” the Swedish diplomat concluded.
