Veresen plans 1mn bl Saskatchewan ethane cavern
OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2015. Alberta-based Veresen Inc. will build a 1mn bl ethane storage facility near Burstall, Saskatchewan, to accommodate growing imports from the Bakken shale in North Dakota.
The \\$140mn salt cavern storage facility, which is scheduled for completion in late 2018, will be located approximately 12 miles north of the Empress NGL complex and will be connected by pipeline to Veresen's Alberta ethane gathering system.
NOVA Chemicals will use the majority of the storage under a 20-year contract; NOVA's Joffre ethylene plant produces 6bn lb/yr of ethylene.
