OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2015. The Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkey brands are in a giving mood this holiday season, with the gift of turkey raised without antibiotics used for growth promotion purposes. All fresh and frozen products currently produced under these two brands will meet the company’s promise made in early July 2014. These are the first turkey brands to achieve such status on a large scale in the U.S., which was made possible by the 700 independent family farms that raise their turkeys. The farming program without growth promoting antibiotics is certified as a USDA Process Verified Program and underscores the promise made to customers and consumers for Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkey products.*

“Turkey farmers who raise birds for us on 700 U.S. farms are passionate about the work they do to produce honest, simple turkey for people to enjoy year-round, and especially during this season, when families gather to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast that includes turkey as the centerpiece,” said Jan Hood, assistant vice president of marketing for the Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms brands. “Like our farmers, we are passionate about producing premium quality turkey that is part of holiday meal traditions across the U.S. We know more people want to have a better understanding about how the food they eat is produced, and we want to provide that information. We recently launched @honestturkey on Instagram (instagram.com/honestturkey/) for consumers to learn more about the way of life for turkey farmers, and our website 700reasons.com showcases the stories of farmers through a variety of videos and biographies to help consumers know more about who is raising the Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkeys they eat.”

According to Hood, “Turkey is a very versatile protein that lends itself to a variety of cuisines, and we have new, delicious recipes on our websites and Pinterest page (www.pinterest.com/honestturkey) that give consumers creative ways to cook with turkey.

In recent years, holiday turkey preparation has added variety with deep-fried turkeys, Spatchcock and other recipes, in addition to the traditional oven-baked bird.
