OREANDA-NEWS. November 11, 2015. Doosan celebrated the construction of its new Doosan R&D Complex with a groundbreaking ceremony in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province. The ceremony was attended by many dignitaries, including Doosan Group Chairman Yongmaan Park, lawmaker Hack Young Lee and Gunpo Mayor Youn Ju Kim.

According to the plan, the complex will have research buildings, which include a 11-floor research building with two basement levels and nine above-ground floors and two three-story auxiliary buildings, a testing center and a design center, consisting of a total gross floor area of about 50,000 square meters. When the construction is completed, the new R&D center will accommodate about 900 researchers and specialists from not only the Central Research Center but also other Doosan affiliates, including Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, Doosan Infracore and Doosan Engineering & Construction.

The most notable feature of the R&D complex is that all the R&D functions and talents of the Doosan affiliates will be brought together under one roof. By establishing a consolidated R&D complex equipped with state-of-the-art testing facilities and technology convergence functions, Doosan plans to create technological synergy across the R&D sectors and always stay ahead through technology innovation.

Doosan Group Chairman Yongmaan Park opened the ceremony with remarks: “Through the Doosan R&D Complex, Doosan is committed to not only gaining a strong competitive edge of the company but also contributing to building the future of Gunpo together with the citizens.”

Doosan has increased its investments in R&D to gain global competitiveness through the development of next-generation innovative technology. Doosan Infracore opened the Global R&D Center in Incheon in July 2014; and Bobcat, a leading compact construction equipment company in North America, celebrated the opening of the Acceleration Center in Bismarck, North Dakota, U.S., in August this year.
