OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2015. Servelec is delighted to announce a new framework agreement with Drax Power Limited with initial work already agreed.  Contracts placed as part of the framework agreement will be delivered by the Controls business, part of the group's Automation division.

Drax Power Limited is the operating subsidiary of FTSE 250 Company, Drax Group plc and the owner and operator of Drax Power Station, the UK's largest power station responsible for meeting 7-8% of the UK's electricity needs. Drax is Europe's single largest decarbonisation project and the planned full conversion of its third generating unit in 2016 will see half the Power Station producing renewable electricity from sustainable biomass.

The framework agreement is effective from September 2015 and will run for 5 years, enabling Drax to place work with Servelec Controls for the supply of automation and IT services.

The initial contract is part of an investment in the existing infrastructure at Drax Power Station with the provision of 4 new large air compressors and dryers. Servelec is to integrate the controls of the new equipment into the existing Common Services control system.

Alan Stubbs, CEO of Servelec Group, commented:

"This new 5-year framework agreement with Drax Power Station is a fantastic opportunity for Servelec Controls to further demonstrate its 35 year experience in this market.  This is a new relationship and one which we value highly.  We look forward to supporting Drax Power Limited in the transformation of their business as well as the opportunities this agreement will present for Servelec Controls."
