OREANDA-NEWS. November 05, 2015. Ukraine should become totally energy independent state within ten years: "We must get rid of gas dependence on Russia. And that is why we are carrying out reforms in the energy sector – both in tariffs, and in implementing a broad program of subsidies. We have also launched an energy efficiency program," emphasised Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk in Ten Minutes

He recalled that last year 450,000 Ukrainian families received subsidies, while in 2015 every third Ukrainian is already getting state subsidies to cover the cost of utility services.

"There are 3.8 million of such Ukrainian households. We expect about 1 million Ukrainian families to appeal for subsidies," Arseniy Yatsenyuk note.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that the Cabinet of Ministers had launched a program of energy efficiency on the issuing of so-called "heat loans", part of which is compensated at the cost of the state budget: "If you take out a loan for a boiler, home insulation or new windows, then the Government will compensate 20 to 60% of the loan."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed that it was issued loans on more than UAH800 million: "60 thousand Ukrainian families have already changed boilers, insulated apartments, changed windows and did their utmost to pay less for bills and use less gas."

"We will continue to pursue this program," emphasised the Prime Minister.
