OREANDA-NEWS. November 05, 2015. Board of Glas Cymru, which owns Welsh Water - the water and sewerage provider to over three million people across most of Wales, Herefordshire and parts of Deeside - has today confirmed two changes to its Board.

It has been announced that its Chairman, Robert Ayling, intends to stand down from the Board after the company's Annual General Meeting in July 2016. 

Menna Richards, Senior Independent Director, said: "When Bob steps down as next year's AGM, he will have been a member of the Glas Cymru Board for more than 8 years. As Chairman since 2010, he has led the Board with great distinction. His extensive knowledge and experience of business and regulation together with his deep understanding of complex customer service organisations, have been invaluable in helping Welsh Water become an industry leader in the essential services it provides to customers. Bob's distinguished leadership of the Board has ensured that Glas Cymru, with its unique ownership model where all gains go to customers, has raised its game in terms of its performance and delivery of services to customers."

It has also been confirmed that Ms Jo Kenrick, currently Marketing Director for Homebase, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Glas Cymru Cyfyngedig and D?r Cymru Welsh Water with immediate effect.

Ms Kenrick's appointment to the Glas Cymru Board brings the benefit of her extensive customer and communications experience across the retail sector. Ms Kenrick has also served as Chief Executive of Start, setting up and running HRH the Prince of Wales' public facing initiative for a more sustainable future. She is a Non-Executive Director of Safestore and former Non-Executive Director of the Principality Building Society.  Ms Kenrick will formally stand for election as a Director at the next Annual General Meeting in July 2016.
