OREANDA-NEWS. November 03, 2015. Before he brings style to Delta’s runway, Zac Posen is bringing style to Delta’s Sky magazine as the cover subject.

Sky interviewed Posen about his creative roots growing up as the son of an artist and a corporate lawyer in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood, where he finds inspiration, what he would change about the fashion industry and bringing to life Delta employees’ vision for the new uniforms he’s designing.

“I think we’re going to deliver something very surprising and very chic and timeless,” Posen said. "I want something that evokes the great nostalgia of commercial air flying – and to where we’re going in the future.

“For me, this is such a huge honor. It’s one of the biggest creative opportunities I’ve had so far,” he continued. “It’s like designing for a country. How do you create unity while people still feel comfortable within their own person? Designing for different body types, for comfort, for feeling poised, stylish, trustworthy, feeling authority in the clothing, essential safety. These are just some of the components that I have to put together.”

November Sky also features a 37-page Atlanta profile section, highlighting the city’s culture, business community, food scene, sports teams and institutions of higher learning, among others. Posen and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed attended a Sky magazine event celebrating the November issue.

“Our story really is tied to the story of (Delta founder) C.E. Woolman and Mayor Hartsfield making an agreement so long ago that brought Delta Air Lines here, and they’ve stayed here ever since,”  Reed said. And so I want to tell all the employees of Delta how deeply grateful I am as the Mayor of the City of Atlanta that you all believe in us.”
