OREANDA-NEWS. Kaliningrad plant "Avtotor" started the production of cars KIA Sorento Prime with a petrol engine of 3.3 liters. Previously, this model was available only with a 2.2-liter diesel engine.

Four-wheel drive KIA Sorento Prime is produced at "Avtotor" from June of 2015. At the first stage the car was equipped only with 2,2l turbo diesel engine of 200 hp with automatic transmission in the 5 and 7-seat performance. In October, the line was supplemented by a gasoline 6-cylinder 24-valve engine with a working volume of 3.3 hp. The engine was de-forced specially for the Russian market from 270 to 250 hp, which permits to reduce the rate of vehicle tax. The engine develops maximum power at 6400 rev / min, the torque 317 Nm - at 5300 r / min that corresponds to the ecological standard Euro-5, the average fuel consumption of KIA Sorento Prime is only 10.5 liters / 100 km.

As well as diesel power plant, the gasoline engine will be only available in combination with all-wheel drive and six-speed automatic transmission. It provides more dynamic than the diesel version, acceleration to 100 km / h - 8,2 s (diesel engine - 9.6 sec).

Sorento Prime included in the premium SUV segment, where earlier the brand KIA has not been presented. The car is built on a new platform - Sorento Prime compared to Sorento of the second generation has increased wheelbase by 80 mm, the body with a rigid power structure due to the increasing number of elements of the high-strength steel that are 52.7%. The length of the vehicle is increased by 95 mm, width – by 5 mm wheelbase – by 80 mm, and the height of the vehicle has decreased to 15 mm, the clearance is 185 mm.

Currently, "Avtotor" produces two models Sorento. In addition to Sorento Prime, it is continued the production of the car KIA Sorento of the second generation in the full cycle with welding and paint finishes that was launched in November of 2013.
