OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2015. Utilitywise PLC (AIM:UTW), the leading independent utility cost management consultancy, is pleased to announce that, to date, it has signed up more than 150 new clients to its  ESOS ("Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme") compliance service. These clients are new to Utilitywise since the launch of the service, and include well-known brands such as Which?, Zoopla Property Group and DNV GL (Det Norske Veritas Limited). The last two months in particular have seen strong customer on-boarding, with 71 organisations signing up to begin the process.

Utilitywise launched the service last year, to help qualifying businesses comply with the scheme.  ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment scheme, originated by the EU, for organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria:

·     More than 250 employees OR

·     A turnover of more than ?38,937,777 AND

·     An annual balance sheet total of more than 33,486,489

Qualifying organisations must carry out ESOS assessments every four years. These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport, to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.

Ashley Guise, Managing Director of Utilitywise's Corporate Division, commented:

"There are nearly 14,000 businesses that should have started on the road to ESOS compliancy by 5th December, but by our calculations less than 5% of those eligible have committed to starting the process.

"Utilitywise has recently completed the scheme itself and the provision of this service both broadens the scope of our client base and our service provision, whilst demonstrating our familiarity of the changing regulatory landscape.

"Just as importantly, with the right partner in place, initial compliance activities can be the first investment on the path to energy savings and cost reduction for businesses, through implementation of the energy efficiency measures identified."
