OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2015.  SIX Exchange Regulation hosted the 2015 Mid-Year Meeting of the IOSCO's Affiliate Members Consultative Committee (AMCC) which was followed by the 8th edition of the IOSCO AMCC's Training Seminar taking place in Zurich. The event was co-organized by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the Brazilian Financial and Capital Markets Association (ANBIMA) and SIX Exchange Regulation.

Record attendance

The number of attendees broke the records of the previous years: More than 140 participants from 50 countries representing over 80 different institutions (regulators, self-regulatory organizations (SROs), investor protection funds and compensation funds, as well as other bodies with appropriate interest in securities regulation) gathered in Zurich to discuss practical experience on "Implementing IOSCO Principles".

AMCC chairman Jose Carlos Doherty, Chief Executive Officer of ANBIMA opened the four days event. The program featured high-profile speakers, including David Wright, IOSCO Secretary General, as well as executive board members and senior officials from the Swiss Financial Markets Supervisory Authority, the UK Financial Conduct Authority, the US Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and other regulators and self-regulators from different countries.

The main topics - covered in lively panel discussions, case studies and breakout sessions - were recent trends in identifying market abuse and innovative approaches to market surveillance, key elements of a sound risk-based supervision system, addressing conflicts of interest, latest developments in cybersecurity and the role of regulators in dealing with this issue, and making a difference through enforcement actions by credible deterrence.

The event took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel Zurich Airport and was completed with evening programs in Zurich city giving the participants insights to the Swiss culture.
