Tesoro discusses potential delays to MX exports

OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2015. Tesoro's efforts to export mixed xylenes (MX) from its refinery in Anacortes, Washington, could see permitting delays, executives said today.

Chief executive Greg Goff said work on the project is going "extremely well" but mentioned Tesoro could face permitting delays for the MX and other projects.

"It is very difficult. Permitting is incredibly challenging in that, but right now everything we see, we stay on our plan," Goff said on an earnings call.

In February Tesoro's board of directors approved a \\$300mn project to extract 15,000 b/d of mixed xylenes at the 120,000 b/d Anacortes refinery by 2017. Tesoro plans to ship the MX produced in Anacortes to Asia, where MX demand is growing.
