Nukem Technologies confirms its leadership in the field of nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management
OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2015. In the framework of the seminar hosted by Nukem Technologies, 100% subsidiary of the JSC Atomstroyexport (ASE), the participants reaffirmed their growing interest in the issues of nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management, particularly in the need for comprehensive optimized methods for decommissioning of nuclear facilities and effective recycling of materials.
“Over the coming decade, a large number of further facilities will be taken off the grid in Europe – and not only in Germany – either because of political decisions or due to economic reasons and the process of aging nuclear plants”, recalled the regional Vice President of Rusatom International Network for Western Europe Andrey Rozhdestvin. “For this reason, the need for comprehensive optimized methods for decommissioning of nuclear facilities and effective recycling of materials becomes more and more important”, stressed Mr. Rozhdestvin in his speech on key role of the Rosatom Group in this field as “A Leading Nuclear Player”.
Aimed at providing an outlook on the trends in future decommissioning trends and giving momentum to stimulating discussions, the workshop gathered more than 25 selected participants from the nuclear industry.
From his side, Chief Expert for International Business Development of ASE Group, Dmitri Vysotski explained the necessity of providing development and implementation of decommissioning projects based on best-standardized design concepts on budget, ensuring safety and quality.
On the sidelines of the seminar, the participants gathered in a more informal setting around a golf tournament organised with the objective of strengthening the spirit of partnership and cooperation.
