OREANDA-NEWS. JSC Inter RAO - Electric Power Plants announced operating results for the first nine months of 2015.

The installed capacity of power plants of JSC Inter RAO - Electric Power Plants increased by 639.4 MW. This was related mainly to commissioning facilities under Capacity Delivery Agreements (the second power unit of the Yuzhnouralskaya TPP-2 with the capacity of 417 MW and two power units of the Cherepetskaya TPP with the capacity of 225 MW each were constructed).

Besides, in accordance with the results of recertification, the capacity of the Urengoyskaya TPP was increased from 484 MW to 498.4 MW; the capacity of the Yuzhnouralskaya TPP-2 and the Kaliningradskaya TPP-2 was increased from 824.6 to 834 MW and from 875 to 900 MW respectively. At the same time, the capacity of the Verkhnetagilskaya TPP and the Yuzhnouralskaya TPP was reduced by 276 MW as part of the inefficient equipment retirement program.

During the first nine months of 2015, power generation by the enterprises of JSC Inter RAO - Electric Power Plants decreased slightly by 0.3% year-on-year and amounted to 73, 525 billion kWh. The reduction is related mainly to the increase in the total installed power generation capacity of UES of Russia as new TPPs were commissioned under Capacity Delivery Agreements and NPPs were put into operation, as well as to the reduction in the utilization of inefficient power units at the Verkhnetagilskaya TPP, Kashirskaya TPP and Cherepetskaya TPP aimed at maximizing the economic benefit from electricity sales.

At the same time, power generation by highly efficient power units increased by 218% at the Yuzhnouralskaya TPP-2 and by 22.3% at the Nizhnevartovskaya TPP.

Besides, as part of the procedure of Selection of Active Generation Facilities (VSVGO), operation of the equipment at the Dzhubginskaya TPP was organized in accordance with peak consumption periods: the equipment is switched off when consumption decreases in the daytime and at night and is switched on when daily power consumption reaches its peak, which ensures a maximum benefit from operation during a 24-hour period when prices are high.

During the first nine months of 2015, heat distribution by power plants of JSC Inter RAO-Electric Power Plants decreased by 7.7% year-on-year and totaled 2,423 thousand Gcal. The decline in heat distribution is related to higher average monthly air temperature in the winter of 2015 in the regions where power plants are operated, as well as to the retirement of inefficient equipment.

Fuel mix of JSC Inter RAO - Electric Power Plants changed slightly: the share of natural gas increased from 80.87% in the first nine months of 2014 to 81.31% in the first nine months of 2015; the share of coal reduced from 18.75% to 18.28%, while the share of fuel oil increased from 0.38% to 0.41%.
