OREANDA-NEWS. AvtoVAZ in 2016 will launch two completely new models Lada - crossover XRAY Cross and wagon Vesta Cross. It was announced in an interview with VAZ-TV by the director of the project "Family of XRAY”, Oleg Grunenkov.

"The task that was put for us by the president (the head of AvtoVAZ, Bo Andersson. - Ed.) is to make two new products in 2016. It is XRAY Cross in versions 4x2 and 4x4, and Vesta Cross in version 4x2”, - the publishing “AvtoSreda” quotes Oleg Grunenkov. At the moment it is not known what will be Lada XRAY Cross - whether it is a car, built on the basis of Renault Duster, about which in the beginning of year Oleg Grunenkov informed "AvtoSreda", or AvtoVAZ  will change somehow the design of conventional XRAY, created on the basis of Renault Sandero. As for the "high-hatch" "X-Ray", it will be on the conveyor of AvtoVAZ in Togliatti in the middle of December 2015. It is expected that the car will go on sale in February.

"We are going in full compliance with the existing schedule and the first lot (XRAY) - the so-called "Pilot 1" - 68 cars; we assembled on the main conveyor of AVTOVAZ on the line B0. Today we fulfill those comments, the improvements that have been identified during assembly. On October 21st we will begin to build a second series of 40 cars. Since the beginning of the production it was assembled 96 cars and all of them pass validation. Already about 60% of our validation plans, all the tests are completed, we are preparing for the certification of the car in public bodies", - said Oleg Grunenkov.

It is assumed that the hatchback Lada XRAY will be equipped with three petrol engines - the 1.6-liter unit with a capacity of 106 and 114 hp, and the 1.8-liter engine, giving out 122 hp. Transmissions are - "mechanics" and "robot".

According to the own information of "AvtoSreda", the list of equipment of Lada XRAY, depending on the configuration, will include: front and side airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, Brake Assist (HBA), traction control system (TCS), a system emergency ERA-GLONASS, tire-pressure monitoring system, cruise control, multimedia system with 7-inch touch-screen navigation function and Internet access, parking sensors, climate system, rear-view camera.
