OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2015. Today, nearly 50 employees from power management company Eaton volunteered their time to help upgrade and beautify the new Stoddard Elementary School, part of the Anaheim City School District, which will open to students on January 11, 2016.

Funding for this project, which exceeded \\$73,000, came from a Powering our Communities Grant from the Eaton Charitable Foundation and personal donations from members of Eaton’s Leadership Team. Building on Eaton’s tradition of corporate citizenship, the company’s “Powering Communities Grants” help improve the quality of life in communities where Eaton employees live and work.

“We are so grateful for the tremendous generosity of Eaton,” said Dale Hillyer, principal, Stoddard Elementary. “Our students will benefit from these enhancements for years to come and we thank Eaton and Orange County United Way for putting children first.”

During the day-long event, the team installed a new playground, provided landscaping and completed other general repairs at the school, converted part of the site into a butterfly garden, installed new perimeter fencing, painted the school’s ball walls and installed lighting from Eaton’s Cooper Lighting Division in the lunch shelter.

Uday Yadav, chief operating officer of Eaton’s Industrial Sector, said, “We are delighted to continue a long standing Eaton tradition of contributing to the communities in which we work. The project for Stoddard Elementary School continues our well-established partnership with Orange County United Way and we look forward to building an ongoing relationship with the school.”

Yadav continued, “Values, which are at the very core of our company, include investing in the communities where we work and are the very reason we are here today.”

Today’s project was spearheaded in partnership with United Way and Eaton to instill community pride and improve the quality of life for children and families in Orange County, California.

“One of our key roles is leveraging and mobilizing the collective caring power of Orange County and focus it on the community’s most pressing needs,” said Sergio Contreras, senior manager, Education for Orange County United Way. “Nothing is more fundamental than our children’s education so we’re thrilled that we could convene this partnership between Eaton and the Anaheim City School District.”

Since 1924, Orange County United Way has been working to improve lives and strengthen our community by mobilizing the caring power of Orange County and focusing on the building blocks for a good quality of life: Education, Income, Health and Housing. By investing in Orange County children, families and individuals, we help them create pathways to self-sufficient lives. In short, we help people help themselves. Through our 10-year community-wide action plan, “FACE 2024” (an acronym for Fund, Advocate, Collaborate, Educate), we collaborate with local businesses, community organizations, governmental agencies and individuals to make a long-term measurable difference in the lives of local individuals and families.
