The capacity of the secondary battery market in Russia is about 11 million units
The largest "consumer" starter batteries – is the segment of passenger cars (7, 7 million units, about 72% of market share). More than 1.7 million units – is necessary for the secondary market to provide the needs of trucks (16.2%), about 1.1 million units - light commercial vehicles (10.5%), 0.2 million units - buses.
As for the regions, there is, according to the research agency, in the first place - the capital and its suburbs: the overall demand for batteries in the secondary market of Moscow and Moscow region (in all segments) is almost 1.5 million units. Among them, only Moscow has more than 0.8 million units. The needs of the Moscow region are in amount of 0,6 million units.
In many regions the battery market capacity expressed by six-digit figures. Thus, the capacity of the battery market in the Krasnodar region and in St. Petersburg – is about 0.4 million units, in the Primorsk Territory and Rostov Region - more than 0.3 million units, in the Sverdlovsk region and Tatarstan - about 0.3 million units, in the Chelyabinsk region and Bashkortostan - more than 0.2 million units.
Method of calculation: by assessing the capacity of the secondary battery market in Russia it was taken as a basis the regional parc as of January 1st, 2015 (except the new cars, which installed new batteries). When calculating it was used coefficients of operating rates of used vehicles (depending on the year), also it was taken into account the brand-model composition of commercial vehicles (on which it can be installed several batteries).
