OREANDA-NEWS. October 22, 2015. The prestigious Harvard Business Review has rated Delta CEO Richard Anderson among the “best-performing CEOs in the world.”

Anderson was the only airline chief – U.S. or abroad - to make the HBR list.

The analysis rated the CEOs of the world’s top companies based on financial performance, which counted for 80 percent of the ranking, along with a measure the review called ESG for “environmental, social, and governance performance,” which counted for 20 percent.

“HBR’s ranking of CEOs is meant to be a measure of enduring success,” the publication explained in its November issue, out this week. “We track and analyze each CEO’s performance starting from day one of his or her tenure. Our goal is to create a list that gets beyond the most recent quarterly or even annual results and truly evaluates long-term performance.”

Anderson, who has headed Delta since 2007, came in at No. 97. Other U.S. CEOs who made the list included Howard Schultz of Starbucks (12), John Mackey of Whole Foods (43), Daniel Amos of AFLAC (69) and Jeff Bezos of Amazon (87). Topping the list was Lars Rebien Sorensen of Danish healthcare company Novo Nordisk.

The recognition is just the latest for Delta’s top leader, who has been ranked among the world’s best CEOs by Barron’s magazine, among the America’s best-performing CEOs by CNN Money, and among the Top 25 Most Influential Industry Executives by Business Travel News, among other accolades.

And under Anderson’s leadership Delta has been named Air Transport World’s Airline of the Year, among Fortune’s most admired companies and more.
