OREANDA-NEWS. On October 18th Kaliningrad plant "Avtotor" began to produce cars Hyundai Elantra of updated fifth-generation, which became the third passenger model of Hyundai, whose production is established in Kaliningrad.

As the chairman of the board of directors of "Avtotor-Holding", Valery Gorbunov, informed, the new production is organized at the initiative of the Korean company. At the first stage in Kaliningrad Hyundai Elantra will be produced in the mode of SKD and then the localization will be expanded. According to him, currently at "Avtotor" it is carried out more than 300 operations, which are necessary for the production of this model. Mr. Gorbunov said that the first lot in the amount of 40 units is "almost assembled."

Currently, "Avtotor" launches Hyundai i40 car of business class and car of representative class Hyundai Equus. Also in Kaliningrad there are produced trucks Hyundai, says the agency "Interfax".

Hyundai i40 model is manufactured in Kaliningrad since March of 2013, and until June 2015 it was produced 16,500 cars. Hyundai Equus is produced since July of 2013 and it was produced 1,5 thousand of such cars by June of 2015.
