Ford Annual Sales in China Reach 788,888 Vehicles, Up Two Percent in September
Passenger car sales were up two percent in September, driven by steady demand for Ford sport utility vehicles (SUVs). Sales of the Ford EcoSport, the Ford Kuga, the Ford Edge and the Ford Explorer increased 13 percent to 23,389 vehicles last month, with year-to-date sales increasing by six percent compared to last year.
Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), Ford’s passenger car joint venture, sold 67,722 vehicles in September, a three percent increase compared to 2014. CAF sold 580,099 vehicles from January to September, steady compared to the same time last year.
Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford’s commercial vehicle investment, sold 18,796 vehicles in September, a 15 percent decrease compared to 2014. JMC sold 187,290 vehicles from January to September, down two percent compared to the same time last year.
This week in Shanghai, Ford held its inaugural “Innovation for Millions” brand event, where the company highlighted its product and mobility innovation strategy for the next five years and announced a RMB11.4 billion investment to expand its capability to innovate in China for China.
